Don't wait another day, because you are missing capturing those moments with a quality digital camera.
You are most likely parents on a budget, and I have put together a great beginner digital camera list to fill your needs and camera bag at an affordable price. If only I had done the same thing when my children were babies. Digital cameras have come a long way and new parents need a new camera kit. This camera kit I have assembled is great for shooting indoors where initially, most of your shots will be. Do not be afraid if you are just a beginner at digital photography. Help is here.
Beginner Digital Cameras
Canon Digital Rebel XSi 12.2 MP Digital SLR Camera
Awesome camera that shoots 12.2 megapixels. This will be great when you capture shots that you want to blow up into larger photos. It has a 3.0 inch LCD display. The photographs you shoot with this will be stunning. Comes with auto optimization which is highly helpful in tricky lighting conditions. Easy shooting with this Canon Rebel and comes with all of the software you will need. This is a light camera that will feel good in your hands even if you are a small woman. The menu buttons are easy to read. Battery life is excellent. Affordable. You cant go wrong with the price that Amazon offers this camera at.
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens
The aperature of this lens means that indoor shooting can be done without a flash in a lot of situations. This is basically a perfect purchase for portrait type shots. It's one of the most affordable lenses on the market. It's Canon's lightest EF lens at only 4.6 ounces. This lens can focus as close as 18 inches which gives you extreme detail on close-ups. All Canon lenses carry one-year warranty.
Bower 58MM Digital Hi Resolution UV Cpl ND4 Filter Set
This UV filter for your camera is a must have camera accessory. A UV filter protects your camera lens and filters in the correct UV light. It will reduce the light without affecting the color of your shots. This is a well made optical filter. I leave my UV filter on permanently. This is a middle of the road neutral density filter that is very inexpensive and should be in everyone's camera bag.
Bower 52MM Hi Res UV Circ Pol ND Lens Filter Set - Bower VFK52C
This is a real nice set of filters. It contains a UV, CPL and ND4 Hi Resolution. Once again, these filters protect your camera lens. When you shoot photos around water of reflective type objects, these lenses protect any unwanted reflections. These filters come with a filter pouch. These are a must have camera accessory in my bag.
Zing 501-101 SBK1 Standard SLR Cover
This is a nice neoprene camera case that repels water. Your Canon Rebel will fit nicely even with the 50 mm lens attached. It has a convenient strap attached also. It stretches over the camera and lens without buckles, snaps or zippers. It's a lightweight design at only 4.5 oz. Throw your camera in your backpack with this Zing cover and don't worry about it.
Lenmar DLCE5 Digital Camera Equivalent to the Canon LP-E5 Battery
Don't even think about not buying an extra camera battery. You never want to lose a shot because your battery ran out. It happens to all of us and I've made my share of mistakes by forgetting my extra battery, but no more. This camera battery will work fine and it's inexpensive. It comes with a 3 year warranty. It's a lithium-Ion battery and will work on your Canon camera. Lenmar is a well respected name in camera batteries.
Lightscoop, Warm Version Bounce Flash Device, Universal model, fits over the Pop-up Flash of most SLR Cameras
This is a good bounce device for the pop-up flash on your DSLR camera. It easily slips over the camera's flash and will allow you to bounce a flash just like a professional photographer. It slips into the hot shoe and redirects the camera flash to a wall or ceiling. Your photos will look more natural.
Transcend 8 GB Class 6 SDHC Flash Memory Card
Everyone who shoots photos on a digital camera needs one of these. 8 gig is a lot and I feel it's a minimum. Comes with a lifetime warranty. This digital card will easily store your high resolution photos. It is SDHC compliant.
